Fashion + Passion = me
Fashion is what I wear ! Now I know this statement sounds somewhat daring and perhaps even arrogant … But come to think of it, what really is fashion? Is it simply something we wear to protect ourselves from the elements? Do clothes really make man?! I think it’s rather the sheer opposite: you, the wearer, are the one who brings a piece of cloth to life by lending it your personality and giving it character.
To me fashion is synonymous with having FUN, dolling up, sometimes provoking, other times providing a shelter to hide behind, experimenting with various styles & eras, slipping into different roles, reinventing myself, catering to my current mood and the possibility to express myself without words. Fashion is playful and it’s individual! I mix designer wear (old or new) with stuff from H&M or get hands on and make stuff myself. I only invest in designer gear if I really lovee the piece, it’s finished well and I know that I’ll wear it for the next years to come. I also looove vintage, especially from the 50’s of which I have by now collected quite a pool – it’s highly individual since the pieces are basically by now a one off and usually made very well :o)
I know best what suits me or at least what makes me feel comfortable. So fashion can’t be dictated by a couple of designers or fashion magazines since everyone is unique! None should become a slave to what a powerfully advertised industry dictates. By all means let’s get inspired by the new collections, yes, but at the same time stay tuned with our own individuality, be true to yourself :o)
