Think purple – a wardrobe overstuffed
This winter season I discovered a new color for myself that - with my fair skin and green eyes - suits me sooo well & perfectly that I felt I had to replace all the black I usually wear during winters with: purple!
II ignored my husband’s complaints that I bought everything ‘the same’ since he couldn’t understand that I needed a whole new wardrobe full of this new favorite color of mine.
‘If I don’t’ buy all in one season I won’t find anything matching ever again’ was my excuse to go ahead and buy literally everything that wasn’t nailed to the rails in various shades of viola, purple, amethyst, lilac, mauve, violet etc from underwear, to t-shirts, stockings, sweaters, pants, shoes & boots, bags, even a coat and gloves and I was gifted a pair of matching sunglasses from my friend! Everything went perfectly well together and I was soooo happy when I finally completed my task of a new wardrobe where black was replaced by purple and its relatives!
But when I open my wardrobe now I’m greeted by pretty much the same sensation as before when everything was black or grey: there is only one color to choose from! Although I don’t reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy like to admit my mistakes when it comes to fashion: I did get carried away … I was reading a lot of spiritual books – so I was generally in ‘purple spirits’ … forgetting that with a change of mood (and literature) I would also want to alter my color choice in clothes!
So the moral that I want to pass on to you with this story is: just because a new color hits all fashion stores simultaneously and matches your current overall mood don’t replace everything you used to wear in only one season! There is enough mistakes for you to choose from, so don’t copy mine and once in a while listen to the man in your life – he knows you and just might have an ever so slightly valid point in these statements of his that sound a bit like criticism ;o)
